ActiveMinds Tutoring has provided personalized in-home and online tutoring to families throughout Greater Boston for over 15 years. During that time, Founder and Executive Director Deborah Brooks has developed a vast network of loyal tutors and built relationships with many public and private schools.

Today, we work with about 75 in-person and online tutors from various backgrounds and disciplines—many of whom have been with ActiveMinds for over five years. Their diverse qualifications range from extensive teaching experience at public and private schools to special education certification to PhDs to work experience in related fields.

Each client family enjoys a dedicated, trusting relationship with their tutor, who is highly invested in the education and well-being of the student. Our results-oriented tutors open students’ minds with an engaging learning process. We have guided hundreds of bright young people from kindergarten through college who return year after year, often with their siblings. These long-standing relationships are especially gratifying.

We have distinguished ourselves as a trusted source for tutoring in the Newton community through our attention to detail and sensitivity to students’ unique learning styles and personalities. ActiveMinds excels at recruiting and hiring high-caliber tutors and arranging the most effective student-tutor matches. We value equally our relationships with both clients and tutors, providing sincere care to all.

Deborah Brooks, Team Builder

With a background in business and sales, Deborah, Founder and Director of Active Minds Tutoring understands (perhaps more than most) the importance of customer service and knowing how to match people to their ideal solutions. During her time as a pharmaceutical sales executive, she was responsible for educating physicians, helping them optimize their success and improve patients’ lives. She also served as a sales trainer, teaching newcomers how to establish a rapport with their customers and build credibility leading to a network of meaningful relationships.

Deborah’s professional healthcare experience managing a downtown Boston sales territory gave her the confidence to launch and build her tutoring company from the ground up over 15 years. Educating and guiding others has always been in her nature, which is why ActiveMinds was the logical next phase in her career. Deborah began offering in-home tutoring in Newton, quickly expanding her service area to help more families. Her exceptional interpersonal skills and knack for collaborating combined with her passion for helping others succeed have played a critical role in the growth of her business.

Deborah, a natural teacher and lifelong learner, finds it most rewarding knowing that she and her team are making a lasting impact on the lives of others.
